Delayed Intensification

We were surprised by good counts today!!! Blake's counts were so good that he didn't need any transfusions! His counts will of course have to stay where they are at now or get higher in order for him to go forward with his spinal tap on Wednesday. The spinal tap will begin the Delayed Intensification phase of treatment.

Once Blake is done with Delayed Intensification he will be on maintenance chemo!Delayed Intensification lasts 56 days if there are no delays (there usually are delays though). Blake will have multiple doses of Vincristine (chemo), Dexamethasone (Steroid), Doxorubicin (red chemo that makes his hair fall out), PEG-asparaginase (yucky leg shots), Cyclophosphamide, Cytarabine, Thioguanine and Intrathecal Methotrexate.

We are sad to hear that Blake's hair will probably fall out again. We just loved that white blonde hair he was growing back. We are also not excited about the steroids as Blake has horrible roid rage when he is on them. I am glad he will at least be eating again though. He hasn't really eaten in quite a while. If Blake had to have radiation it would start during this phase, thankfully Blake will not need radiation. Blake will be in the clinic quite a bit during this phase, but I prefer that to hospitalization.Please continue to pray for us! Thank you for your prayers.
