Blake's Fight against Leukemia

Blake will complete the Consolidation phase of treatment next Tuesday! The last few weeks were tough on him. He was quite nauseated and had some allergy issues. He has been very good about it all though. His next phase is Interim Maintenance.

Blake is going to be in a program for the Diamonds and Champions benefit dinner next Thursday and we are very excited for him! While he will not get any of the money from the benefit directly, the money is being donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are hoping that this dinner will help fund the continuing research and treatment of the various types of cancer.

Blake has enjoyed about a month without any spinal taps, unfortunately he is scheduled to have one on April 7th. It all depends on his counts though.

Thank you for continuing to give us moral support and help us all get through this tough time! Blake is still a lovable, obedient and loving boy! Thank goodness this disease can't take that from him!

2 month Check up

Miss Alexia had her 2 month check up yesterday! She is 14 lbs 4 oz, 25 1/2 inches long and her head measures 15 inches! She is in the 95th percentile for both height and weight! Poor Alexia had to get 3 shots in her legs and take some yucky medicine (all routine for the 2 month check up). She took it like a champ and only fussed for a moment. She was easily calmed down by her daddy! She was a little tiny bit fussy later in the evening, but has so far maintained her wonderful happy personality

She tries to sit up all by herself most of the time and is pretty sucessful for the most part! Mommy is a firm believer in attachment parenting, so she rarely touches the ground and she doesn't like sitting still! Mommy is lucky to have 3 different types of baby carriers, so depending on Alexia's mood she can see the world while mommy carries her or she can snuggle mommy and sleep.

She loves to watch her big brother play! She smiles and laughs at all of us. She can roll from back to side and from tummy to side, but hasn't quite mastered rolling all the way over yet. It is fascinating for all of us to watch her grow up. We hope she doesn't grow up too quickly though! We are really enjoying this age!

Blake had a long day in the clinic today. He was so cheerful the whole time! He enjoyed putting together puzzles and called the blood transfusion he got "ketchup". Thought we should share this moment with you all!

Our 7 Week Old Alexia!

Our little over achiever thinks that she needs to start trying to crawl before she is even 2 months old! Such a silly girl! She really is amazing!

Blake is still doing very well with his chemo therapy. We are still in Consolidation and are actually a week behind because Blake's white blood cell count was 20 below what it needed to be to continue with the chemo last week. Hopefully this Tuesday we will be able to continue. We should be about halfway through the Consolidation phase right now. Blake is still learning at an amazing rate. He knows how to count to five, he knows his numbers up to ten, but has troubles putting them in order sometimes. He also knows quite a few letters of the alphabet, but hasn't put those in order either. He talks up a storm and will even hold the phone to his own ear and talk to people when they call him.

He really loves to entertain his sister and enjoys helping give her baths!

Alexia is having lots of fun now! She is almost able to roll over and holds her head up all by herself most of the time. She can sit with help and is also able to stand up (of course one of us has to be holding her to balance her). She looks around at all the world with such wonder. She loves to play with her daddy, her mommy and her brother. She actually enjoys tummy time most of the time! She is a very cheerful little lady and only gets upset when hungry or gassy! She also sleeps quite well and is still 100% breastfed! She is doing very well, but is not nearly as big as her brother was at this point. Can you believe she is almost 2 months old and she still wears 0-3 month clothes!

We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful baby girl!

Daddy can really make Alexia smile!

We finally caught her smiling on camera! She is quite a happy baby and loves to smile at mommy, daddy, Blake and Grandma/Grandpa Wilson and Grandma/Grandpa Parrack! She is already doing a great job of holding her own head up, but still needs a little support. She loves watching her big brother play and he does a great job of including her and explaining to her what he is doing! We can't wait until our next appointment to find out how much she weighs!
